Rail Shooter Overview + Non-games Related Gear

March 28th, 2010

To accompany my recent articles on Dead Space Exraction and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, please find my overview of the state of rail shooters on the Wii in the link below.

The State of Modern Rail Shooters on the Wii

It’s been a long time since I’ve contributed work to Racketboy, so I’m pleased that I was able to produce something substantial. In lieu of all the buyer guide-themed articles that have been released on this topic, I decided to concentrate on the evolution of the genre. Usually the rail shooter gets a unfair wrap by the mainstream media, so I figured that it’d be appropriate to make a counterbalance.

Also, in preparation for my eventual return to China (and the cut in posting frequency that it will bring), I have decided to better pool my resources by continuing to upload articles on movies, comics, anime, manga and books here, as well as games. These articles tend to be more commentary/observation-based rather than gung-ho analysis. I’m considering lowering the posting frequency to a new post every 3 days so that I can maintain a regular posting schedule while I settle down in my new home. We’ll see what happens.

See You in the Next One (Have a Good Time)

the verve

On Tuesday I will be arriving in ShangHai, China (all the backstory here) which means that I am uncertain of how long it’ll be between posts. I already have a slew of posts in the bank, so really I just need 5 minutes and an internet connection – shouldn’t be a drama but don’t count on anything new for a few days.

In the meantime though I have congregated all of my recent guest writing below. Each article is pretty meaty so there should be plenty to feed on while I am preparing for the new semester. From no on you’ll be able to find all of these articles on the About page. I hope to be back soon, details of my journey should be shared among my flickr, Twitter and personal blog.

Additional Guest Writing

February 17th, 2008

I want to tell you readers that I’ve been a little disappointed with the last few posts here on my Gamer Blog. Although I am definetly pleased with them I feel as though I have wound down a bit after a fantastic run of A grade posts. I’ve been trying to continue to raise the bar but for this week (thats last week) the bar has remained stationary.

I’ve had a bit of writers block recently and most of my attention has been put into a guest post that I wrote over at the Retro Gaming with RacketBoy titled:

Nintendo Games & Franchises Forgotten Too Quickly

For a few months I have wanted to contribute a full article to this blog and finally I have done just that. I also wanted to write this the guest article to address what I see to be a major problem. It really does frustrate me how so many non franchise, Nintendo titles suffer at the hand of the big three, Nintendo’s own Triforce. So if you are looking for a unique, refreshing game to play then check out any of the games listed.

I was looking forward to sharing my ideas about the new King of Fighters trailer from the AOU this morning. Unfortunately I am still recovering from some stuff that happened on the weekend so I might just have to write that one up later on. So please check out my guest post in the meantime.
