Ha Ha, I have had the same idea Matt for another remake.

Both are very good points. The accents in the original sound so terribly forced. It really is quite bad.

You are right as well, the music has changed considerably. I played the PSone version recently for half an hour and it was one of the first things I noticed. Especially the alert music, it sounds so much better in the original. Its funny how you don’t notice these things the first time around.

You forgot a few more nitpicks:

1. A few of the voice actors completely changed their accent for their respective characters (Naomi, Vulcan Raven, Natasha, Gray Fox, Mei Ling, Sniper Wolf).

2. The music completely differs from the original in several areas, which was quite jarring to me.

You’re absolutely spot on otherwise. The very least they could’ve done was add some additional content (even giving us the VR missions from the PSX version!) or storyline (like show us a cinematic of Fox Hound taking over Shadow Moses or something).

Hopefully this game gets another remake done right someday.

racketboy: Actually after I wrote the MGS part for that article I really wanted to follow it up with this one. I look forward to seeing it on your blog.

I am trying to force my brother into playing these series from start to finish. So I might back up what has already been posted with some video comparisons etc.

Interesting. I played the original, and I do remember being very impressed by it at the time, in comparison with other PS1 games. It’s a shame about the facial models though - that’s one of the things you would think they’d have got right
